Almost all farmers grow oranges, which are currently known as Medan oranges—the people of North Sumatra prefer to call them Karo oranges or Berastagi oranges. No less than 18,000 hectares of farmers' land are planted with oranges.



Develops 400-500 citrus trees per hectare. The plains as high as 800 m to 1,000 m above sea level on the slopes of Mount Sinabung are suitable for growing oranges. Siamese orange is a characteristic of Karo. Karo oranges are economically promising. The market demand is huge. The quality and taste of the karo oranges are unquestionable, and recently there is another orange that is no less sweet, namely the karo liang melas datas orange, which was sent by the Karo residents as much as 3 tons to our president, Joko Widodo.
